On this page we give a comprehensive insight into the history of BEAM central vacuum systems.
Dedicated to the production of bagless central vacuum systems since 1957.
It is often thought that the central vacuum cleaner system is a development of recent years, but nothing could be further from the truth. We go back in time to the year 1957, the company Beam Manufacturing Company becomes BEAM Industries. Over the past 20 years, the company Beam Manufacturing Company has mainly focused on the production of washing machines. After the takeover in 1957 under the leadership of Robert L. Sampson, the company BEAM Industries starts with the development and production of central vacuum units. Shortly afterwards, the company grew to become the largest producer of central vacuum cleaners in the USA and Canada.
After an expansion of the company’s premises from 6,000 square feet to 55,000 square feet in 1988, the company was taken over by Electrolux AB from Sweden in 1989. With Mr. John Coghlan at the helm, the production of central vacuum units made a huge leap due to global expansion to countries such as Ireland, Norway, Finland and a few years later the Netherlands. With a company acquisition in Canada and expansion in Europe, Asia and Australia, the company is now present in more than 52 countries and has positioned itself as the world market leader in central vacuum systems. In the year 2006, John Coghlan decides to stop, the helm is then handed over to Russel Minnick, after which the company continues to focus on the future of the central vacuum system. For example, production is moved to state-of-the-art facilities and marketing is further expanded with the help of the Electrolux logo. In 2007, the name BEAM Industries changed to Electrolux Central Vacuum Systems.
Market leader
For the past 20 years, BEAM Industries and Electrolux Central Vacuum Systems have led the market and provided them with innovative products and solutions that have always met customer expectations. With special developments such as the patented soundproofing technology that has reduced the noise of the central vacuum cleaner unit by more than 50%, the company is able to distinguish itself from the competition.
A very special milestone was achieved in 1999 when the millionth central vacuum unit was assembled, a BEAM Serenity. Less than 10 years later, in July 2005, the next milestone is reached by the two millionth vacuum cleaner that rolls off the production line. The total BEAM production now covers more than 5,000,000 vacuum units worldwide.
